Common Trouble with Hitachi
hard drives
Hitachi Deskstar drives, frequent problem
or trouble we see is that the drive remains silent
when powered up. Possibly smell of burning from
the pcb / electronics board. There is no sound
and it may shut down the computer it is connected
to - ie not allow it to boot up. For the laptop
Travelstar drives they may remain silent when
powered without any spinning up or give a small
creaking or scratching noise.

One of our key computers crashed last Friday, after taking it to the place of supply - they said the hard disc was broken after
approximately six years of use. After speaking to Apex on Saturday
morning we took them the drive. Within 24 hours they had recovered the data and burnt it onto two DVD's, which they delivered back to us on Sunday -
so we could continue work normally on Monday. Apex technology provided
us with an excellent service, which we can only commend. Thank you..
